What is the European Accessibility Act (EAA)?
The EAA is an EU directive requiring digital products and services to be accessible to people with disabilities. It applies to businesses with more than 10 employees or €2M turnover, with enforcement starting June 28, 2025.
What happens if my website isn't compliant?
There is no single EU-wide fine. Each member state sets its own penalties in its national transposition law, and the maximums differ widely, from tens of thousands of euros in some countries to over a million in others. Our country-by-country guide lists the current maximum for each member state.
Does the widget make my site fully compliant?
No. No widget or overlay can make a website WCAG-compliant, because conformance depends on the code your site actually serves. In January 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission fined a widget vendor $1 million for claiming otherwise. Our widget adds user-facing preferences such as text size, contrast and keyboard navigation; what actually makes you compliant is fixing the issues our scan reports, in your own code.
